Meet Ally (Alee). We call her Al. Ally is a Jack Russell mix. Her paperwork says she’s 16, but we think she could be a few years younger. She was left at the shelter, probably when her human died or became ill. Ally spent most of her life dealing with severe food and skin allergies, which we are working to keep in balance. She will require a strict diet to avoid allergens, weekly foot baths and ear cleaning, and biweekly baths to keep her feeling her best. She’s kinda a grumpy lady when it comes to other dogs- she tolerates mild mannered ones as long as they don’t come between her and a snack or meal. She is pretty bossy and barks at them a lot to pipe down- she IS the Fun Police. Ally does love her human thought and will follow them and stay close by. She doesn’t like to be picked up, but is a great jumper. She loves to cuddle on the bed or on a lap. Al would do best in a home without small children, cats or other small animals. She is mostly deaf, though she does hear loud barking. She still startles easily, and that can upset her. Al is housetrained with a dog door and walks well with a harness. She does get excited seeing other dogs on walks. Ally doesn’t mind a bath, but trimming nails or using a dryer of any kind freaks her out. She is not a shedder.
